Meet The Speakers
Katrina M. Sanders RDH, BSDH, M.Ed, RF
Katrina is an award-winning dental hygiene educator, clinical dental hygienist, author and national speaker with over a decade of dental hygiene experience. She is a keynote speaker for Smiles At Sea and a distinguished speaker with Dental Hygiene Culture. As the founder of Sanders Board Preparatory, she believes in the importance of not only educating but also instilling passion for dental hygiene throughout her work. Her lectures incorporate a caring, passionate, energetic, comedic and supportive style as her zest for dental hygiene is infused throughout her content. Katrina is on the advisory board for ModernHygienist.com, is a writer for Dentaltown Magazine and Today's Hygienist. Follow her handle: @MsSandersRDH.

Histology and Anatomy
Jacquelyn P. Mathews, DMD completed her undergraduate degree in biochemistry at Arizona State University and her dental degree at Midwestern University. After graduating with the inaugural class at Midwestern in 2012, Dr. Mathews moved to Wisconsin to enter private practice. Sick of the cold and snow, she moved back to Arizona in 2015. She began her academic teaching career in 2016 when she returned to her alma mater as an adjunct faculty in the dental simulation clinic. In 2017 she advanced to a clinical assistant professor position at the MWU Dental Institute where she is educating future clinicians as they hone their skills in a patient-based atmosphere. With passion and gusto she enjoys helping and guiding students as they begin their lifelong learning career in the wonderful field of dentistry.
Kathleen McIntosh LaVoy RDH, PDHC, MEd
A graduate of Forsyth School for Dental Hygienists and Northeastern University, Kathy has been a dental hygienist for 40+ years. After many years in private clinical practice, Kathy’s career evolved and moved into education. A love of teaching prompted the completion of a Master in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University. Public Health is her passion; especially the areas of advocacy and expanding access to care. She is an Affiliated Practice Hygienist and holds a certificate in dental public health.
Kathy served as Adjunct Faculty at Rio Salado Community College, Phoenix College and AT Still University’s Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health, receiving the Outstanding Adjunct Faculty Award from both Rio Salado and Phoenix College. In 2013, she accepted a full time faculty position in the Phoenix College Dental Department. There she serves as First Year Clinic Coordinator and Community Oral Health instructor.
Kathy is the only dental hygienist ever invited to serve as a Director of the Delta Dental of Arizona Foundation Board. During her tenure on the Board, she was Chair of the Grants Committee and elected Vice Chair of the Foundation Board. She is also an active member of ADHA.

Dr Clark Chen DMD
Dr. Clark Chen completed his undergraduate degree in bioengineering at the University of California, San Diego, his dental degree at the Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health (ASDOH), and his certificate in prosthodontics at the University of California, San Francisco. Upon graduating from his prosthodontic training, he returned to his alma mater full time to become an assistant professor at ASDOH. He currently teaches clinical dentistry in the prosthodontic clinic and is the lead instructor in the fixed prosthodontics and dental materials modules. Dr. Chen is currently scheduled to matriculate into the periodontics residency at UCLA in the summer of 2018.
